About
Eugene Mebane, Jr. was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on December 22, 1945. He was the eldest child of parents Eugene Mebane, Sr. and Willie Mebane. Eugene and Willie believed education was the key to success and instilled a strong focus on education and also the arts in all of their children as they wanted their children to also be well-rounded. While, Eugene Mebane, Jr. never had children of his own he always joked that his siblings and sibling’s children were like his own children. As a result, he instilled that same focus on education, the arts, and following one’s dreams in his siblings, his sibling’s children, family, friends, and many others. He always dreamed of starting a foundation named after his parents to instill the same values that his parents instilled in him in the next generation. To show that even if you grew up in a place like Pittsburgh your wildest dreams could still come true. A couple of months before his 77th birthday and his nephew Kennan Eugene Mebane’s 40th birthday on October 17, 2022 they co-founded Eugene & Willie Mebane Foundation along with his brother Willie Jerome Mebane. On February 27, 2022, Eugene Mebane, Jr., passed away but not before realizing his dream of starting a foundation named after his parents to carry on their legacy and his own. Now, that legacy of empowering the next generation to follow their dreams through education and many of the things that he loved like technology and the arts lives on through his sister Anna Adams’s children Meeka and Tammi, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, his brother, Willie Jerome Mebane, his brother’s son Kennan Eugene Mebane, his nephew David Adams, and so many other lives that he touched in his life.
