One of the first events that I worked on when I started mentoring, Reji Berrouet, was this event with some of the members of Black Ink Chicago and my colleagues from For The Culture I had been working with over the years. I had mentored a couple of videographers over the years and done a little work as a photographer myself, but this was the first time I had ever helped manage a photoshoot. All things considered, it went really and this ended up being the first of many events I would work on with Reji. I learned how important photography and visuals are in terms of storytelling and thus DE&I. As photography has become more and more oversaturated yet under-appreciated I tried to find unique and creative ways to promote photographers like Reji and I learned how photography could play an essential part in DE&I. During the course of our time working together, I found out he is a big fan of Ewing Athletics. One of the projects that I was really happy to have him work on was documenting an Ewing Athletics event. Click here to some pics from the Ewing Athletics event that Reji documented as well.
